Five

Launched on 31 March 1997, Five is the UK's fifth and youngest terrestrial broadcaster. Currently well over 30 million UK viewers watch Five any given week tuning in for programming as diverse as the CSI franchise, Extraordinary People, live UEFA Cup football, House, Neighbours, Five News with Natasha Kaplinsky, Home & Away and Paul Merton in China, as well as the channel's award-winning children's strand, Milkshake!

Five launched two digital channels in autumn 2006 - Five US and FIVER (originally Five Life). Five is wholly owned by RTL, Europe's largest broadcaster.

In summer 2008 Five's video-on-demand service will be relaunched as Demand Five. It will offer a 30-day catch-up service providing programmes from Five, Five US and FIVER, as well as many hours of archived content. Programmes will mainly be offered for free, although some US dramas will require payment. Five is also looking to distribute Demand Five on other television, online and mobile platforms, in order to offer an easily accessible service to viewers.
