ODG is a leader in Video on Demand (VOD), Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD), Near Video on Demand (NVOD), IPTV and Pay TV. It specialises in interactive media development, content acquisition, service & content management and television promotion. Its unparalleled knowledge of the consumer television and content industry means it can offer expert-level management to some of the biggest brand names in media. ODG is a global company with current services and assignments in the UK, Germany, Austria, Greece, Russia and Latin America.
ODG was formed in 1995. Its core team is based in central London but the company has operated successfully in more than 20 countries worldwide. In 1998 ODG launched the Front Row NVOD pay per view movie service over the UK cable network. ODG worked closely with ntl to achieve the launch of their video on demand services in January 2005, providing content management, roll out and programme management services. ODG now acts as sole content management partner for all Virgin Media's TV On Demand services. FilmFlex was launched in the UK in 2005, as a result of our joint venture with Walt Disney and Sony Pictures to provide a high quality on-demand movie service. In 2002 ODG created a strategic partnership with SeaChange International to develop video on demand opportunities worldwide. In September 2005 SeaChange International announced the acquisition of the remaining 72% of the outstanding capital stock of ODG. In November 2006 ODG announced the launch of its movie pay-per-view service - Select Kino, which is available to subscribers of Kabel Deutschland's (KDG), the largest cable network in Germany.
In February 2007 ODG formed a joint venture On Demand Deutschland (ODD) with Tele München Gruppe (TMG) to build pay-per-view and video-on-demand services in German speaking countries. In April 2007 ODD announced that it had taken over the management of the pay-per-view movie service for Unity Media, the second largest cable network in Germany.
In January 2008 ODG announced the sale of the stake in FilmFlex to Sony Pictures Television International and Walt Disney Television International, although ODG continues to handle content management and on screen creative production for the FilmFlex service. In February 2008 ODD announced a deal whereby it will supply the VOD content services and on-screen production to Telekom Austria's Aon TV VOD service.
